What is being a Christian all about?
It is not about being a good person, being baptized, or being a church member, although each one of these things is essential to a healthy Christian life. In a nutshell, it means changing from a person who is disconnected from God to one who has eternal life through a special relationship with Jesus Christ. It’s all about life. If you want to understand how, click the link below and give us your contact information and someone will follow up very soon. There is also a link to another site that can tell you more right now, and you don’t have to give any information to see it.

What does it take to become a member of West Point Baptist Church?
When you become a member of West Point, you take your place in a family. As with any family, membership brings both privilege and responsibility. You find faithful friends who will invest in you, share life with you, and do their part in helping you grow as a follower of Jesus. And you become part of the family unit that does that for every other member. So we are eager to have you become part of the West Point family.

You’re not like other Baptist churches. Why?
For our part, being a church is about being a family of Christians, not a member of a denomination. We teach what we understand the Bible to say, not what is popular or what is accepted tradition. And that means that where traditional “Baptist” ideas and practices best reflect the Bible's teaching, we embrace them eagerly; where they don't, we choose to change and do things God’s way. Our name says Baptist for two main reasons. First, because we are convinced that baptism by immersion (going under) is in important part of what a person does to demonstrate their commitment to and trust in Jesus—and we teach about that in various places. Second, because we contribute a portion of all the money that comes in to support thousands of missionaries in the US as well as over 150 countries around the world through the Southern Baptist Convention.

Why do you meet in a plain brown building? How can that be a real church?
Actually, meeting in such a simple place helps us be a real church. A church has two main purposes—to be God’s people and do God’s work. And we can be God’s people anywhere, whether we’re in a cathedral or in a tin can. But we found that doing God’s work, that is, bringing the message of Jesus to everyday people who have never been part of a church, and helping people through life, is easier here. People who have never been in church, or people who left it behind years ago, feel more comfortable coming here to see if being a follower of Jesus is right for them. And for those who love Jesus, the shape of the structure has little to do with the substance of their faith. They would rather spend money on things that really help people.

What is there for my kids / teens?
We live in a world where kids soak up confusing and even harmful messages from every direction. So we have an urgency about helping them know the Truth about Jesus. We know that kids need Him too. And everybody knows, Jesus loves the little children. He even loves the big ones too. So we have established and are developing ministries for kids all the way through High School. We have a few simple aims. Teach them the truth. Do it in a way they can understand. Help them see how it makes a difference in their lives. And while we’re at it, make it engaging enough that they want to come back for more.

How can I be part of a LifeGroup
Sunday mornings are the high time of our week as a church. But not even the highest time of worship can take the place of a group of friends helping one another understand and carry out being a follower of Jesus. Relationship-driven small groups are an absolute must for believers, and our LifeGroups meet that need.

What kind of TEAM can I serve on? I’m not really sure what I can do.
Around here we share the work. Some jobs are big, others are small. Some get lots of attention, others get none. But every job is important, and every person has something to contribute. TEAMs are how members help get the work done. There is something important for everyone to do, including you.
TEAMs info sheet coming soon.

I’ve never really been to a church. What will it be like?
You will walk into Cafe 55, a Wi-Fi cafe and boosktore that feels as much like a food court as a church building. People will smile and shake your hand because we’re actually glad to see you, not because we want something from you. Grab a cup of coffee. Relax a minute. Check the place out. There’s a fun zone for your kids if you have any with you. Make your way into our auditorium and you’ll find comfortable padded seats. There will be some singing, some praying, a message from the pastor, and an offering. Take part as fully as you like. If you would be more comfortable, feel free to stay in the cafe and just listen in. We have no intention of pushing you to do anything. We believe in time, after you’ve really considered what a difference Jesus and the church can make in your life, you won’t need anyone to push.

I don’t even know if I believe in God. Is there a place for me?
It only makes sense that in a world that more and more marginalizes the idea of God—and often outright rejects it—you might have some doubts. We are not afraid of doubts, and we would rather hear your questions than make you feel like you have to pretend to believe. Of course believing in God is important at some point, but we don’t rush you. We know if you take time to really understand, and are willing to listen to what we teach and sincerely consider it, you will more than likely find faith, too. But even if you don’t, you’re welcome here, and you will be among friends.
